Simon Cooper is a member of Resolution – First for Family law. This is the main association of Family law practitioners in the UK and he has over 20 years experience in the field.

Simon displays empathy and understanding of the issues clients face in the family break up scenario and will work with you to find an acceptable solution to the problems. He works collaboratively with other lawyers, which emphasises the need to work together to reach a settlement of the case and to avoid going to court if possible, and is a trained Family law mediator.

We can help you with:

  • Pre- and Post- Nuptial/Marital agreements.
  • Divorce separation and dissolution of marriage or partnership.
  • Issues relating to Finances and children on divorce or separation.
  • Assisting couples who are not married or civil partners.
  • Injunctions and emergency actions where needed for violence asset protection or other areas.

During separation or divorce, confrontations and court proceedings are rarely the best outcome for anyone involved. Mediation focuses instead on the constructive resolution of family disputes, where both partners are assisted in reaching a settlement of issues by a solicitor who is trained in mediation.

Mediation is deemed so important that couples now have to attend a compulsory mediation assessment meeting before commencing court proceedings, to at least see if mediation is a way forward for both parties. This will help both sides understand the many benefits of mediation, and the procedures and costs involved.

Simon Cooper is Cooperlaw’s trained and experienced mediator, and you can expect a professional and caring approach to help to resolve issues sensibly and with the minimum impact on everyone involved, especially the children.

Initial telephone advice to both parties is free of charge and a reasonable hourly charge will be agreed for the mediation sessions.
